IT wasn't even noon yet, but the heat was already stifling. A gate welcomed us with the words “Welcome to Banten Lama Tourist Attraction”. Once upon a time, perhaps a welcome gate existed at the dock, welcoming migrants and traders who stopped by Banten Bay. In its time, Old Banten was a world-class trading port, one of the largest in the history of Nusantara. However, that prestige later vanished.
