In the heart of Solo, there is a place that has witnessed the journey of Indonesian music. Amidst the hustle and bustle of tradition and the echoes of the arts of the archipelago, this place has been alive as a space that has been "singing" since 1956. It has played a role in the development of the careers of great and famous figures such as Titiek Puspa, Gesang, Waldjinah, Bing Slamet, Sam Saimun, and Didi Kempot.

Lokananta, this place's name, is located at Jalan Ahmad Yani No. 379, Kerten, Solo, Central Java. During Pekan Kebudayaan Nasional, Senin-Minggu, 7-13 Oktober 2019 (the National Culture Week, Monday-Sunday, October 7-13, 2019) published by the Directorate General of Culture, it was mentioned that Lokananta has more than 53,000 vinyl records and 5,670 historical master recordings. The most phenomenal recording is President Sukarno's reading of the text of the Proclamation of Independence.
