HIS life story was both unique and controversial. His name is recorded in the history of three countries: Korea, Japan, and Indonesia; as Huh Young, Hinatsu Eitaro, and Huyung. He did it for the sake of his dream to be a film director; which could make him labeled as a collaborator, a defector, a hero, or simply a naive and pragmatic person.
Huh Young (some write Hae Young, Heo Yeong, or Ho Yong), his real name, was born in Hamgyong, Korea, on September 21, 1908. There are no records of his family and childhood. Growing up, he wanted to become a film director, but it was a difficult dream to chase if he remained in his homeland. Since 1910, two years after he was born, Korea became part of the Japanese Empire.
