The Merah Putih Village Cooperative, launched by President Prabowo Subianto in July 2025, is expected to boost the rural economy. The cooperative, which is claimed to bring 80,000 cooperatives throughout Indonesia, is one of the current administration's priority programs. The target is for all cooperatives to be fully operational by the end of 2025.
To implement this, the government is ensuring access to capital. This is stipulated in Minister of Finance Regulation No. 49 of 2025 concerning Funding for the Merah Putih Cooperative dated July 21, 2025. Among the provisions in the regulation is a capital loan scheme that can be obtained from Himbara (Association of State-Owned Banks). The maximum loan ceiling per cooperative is IDR 3 billion with an interest rate of 6 percent per year and a maximum loan term of 72 months, which can be paid in monthly installments.
However, to date, there has been no regulation supporting the disbursement of these loans. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan on Thursday (8/21/2025) hoped that by the end of this month, the regulation would be drafted so that the loan ceiling could be used.
