The city of London felt cold that day, on the first day of November 1950. At least that was how Ganis Harsono felt after arriving from his long journey from Jakarta. At the Indonesian embassy building on Rutland Gate, Kensington, Ganis met with the Indonesian ambassador to the United Kingdom in connection with his appointment as press attaché at the Indonesian embassy. Like the cold London air, Ganis recalled that the meeting felt stiff and unfriendly.
