IN his 18-square-meter living room, Subagiyo sits in a chair facing south. A key, the symbol of the Kapribaden faith organization, hangs on the wall just above his chair. On the other side of the wall is a photograph of an old man wearing a blangkon (a traditional Javanese men's headdress made from batik fabric), lurik (a traditional Javanese cloth that has a striped motif) shirt, and a batik cloth with parang motif. There's a caption underneath, saying “Romo Semono Sastrohadidjojo (1900-1981)”.
