From Johan Kepler Panggabean's grave, we continue walking to the back of the Petamburan Public Cemetery, where there is a block of Chinese graves. In one of the rows, we find the grave of Tan Tjeng Bok. Although not grand, the inscription on the gravestone sparks attention. At the top of the gravestone, there is a cross flanked by two angels. The next part explains who is buried there.
“Actor of Three Eras. Has returned to the Father's house in Heaven. Born June 4, 1900. Died February 15, 1985. Tan Tjeng Bok (Pak Item),” reads the inscription on the tombstone.
Tan Tjeng Bok was a prominent Indonesian artist who spanned three eras. In addition to being a film actor, he was known as a keroncong artist, theater actor, and comedian. As indicated on his tombstone, Tan Tjeng Bok's artistic career spanned three eras.
